the ramblings and musings of a musical theatre obsessed actor.

laugh. love. sing.

Back from the Big Apple!

And let me tell you, I’m already ready to head back!

Absolutely love - LOVE - NYC, and if you’ve never been there, you need to go there. NOW.

It was a little tricky to stick to WW, especially since I couldn’t track all of the food I ate, and not having wifi constantly didn’t help. I turned my phone to airplane mode because I didn’t really want the roaming charges, nor did I need to use it. The few times I did have an internet connection I checked my email, facebook, twitter and tumblr for about 5 minutes, and then shut it off and spent time with my mom.

I did however stick to making healthier choices when it came time to eating out. Salads with dressing on the side, or veggie sandwiches (in which I’d try to not eat the bread). Of course I had a glass of wine with dinner on Mother’s Day (and the most delicious steak in the WORLD!), but it was Mother’s Day and I treated my mom to dinner, so why couldn’t I treat myself?

And we walked EVERYWHERE. We took the subway/bus system twice because we were going further distances, but otherwise, we walked almost 10km a day. No lies. So that much walking must have balanced out with everything I ate, cause I came home 2lbs lighter from my weigh in!

I’ll post some photos later (of the trip).

Now I must unpack, do some laundry and probably go to bed. I’m still exhausted!

xo.

I’m heading to NYC in May, are there any shows I must see? RECOMMEND ME SOMETHING!
Will someone give me $32,000 so I can attend the Circle in the Square Theatre School please?

bring it on.

i’m obsessed with this musical.

i think i’ve played the OBC at least 20 times since i bought it monday night.

OBSESSED.

i need to see it again.

trip to NYC? i think so.

oh, hi again toronto. :(

so i flew back from the big apple last night. such a crazy trip, but it was all so worth it!

lemme start at the beginning..

day one - sunday, june 24th: flew out to NYC at 8:55am, landed around 10ish, and then finally made my way into the city for around 11:15 (cause the bus took forever)! caroline met me at port authority and then we ventured to her apartment, dropped my stuff off and went back down to times square to enter the lottery for ‘newsies’. i was supposed to see ‘harvey’ today, but it was sold out so i wasn’t able to get tickets. we didn’t win the lottery for ‘newsies’ either, so we went down to the brooklyn bridge, canal street, and soho (where i bought my longchamp bag i’ve wanted for a while)! we grabbed some groceries and head onto her rooftop patio to enjoy the view. later that night, there was a fire a block away from her apartment that we decided to go check out. so surreal.

day two - monday, june 25th: day two was a shopping day! bought some super cute clothes at forever 21, then entered the lottery for ‘ghost’! caroline’s thing is to pair up with another couple, and that way if they both win we can get tickets to see the show, and it’s a good thing we did! the couple we teamed up with won twice, so we scored the last pair of tickets to see ‘ghost’ front row! :) words of advice: if you are in new york, GO SEE ‘GHOST’ .. seriously! it’s one of the most unreal shows i’ve seen in a LONG time! the effects, the acting, the VOICES on those actors! oh man. chills still thinking about it. GO SEE THIS SHOW BEFORE IT CLOSES!

day three - tuesday, june 26th: we woke up early this day to get rush tickets to see ‘memphis’, then after walking around a little bit, we grabbed a bottle of wine and packed a lovely picnic lunch to eat on the rooftop. however, the roof was closed because they were doing some work on it. bummer. so we ate inside while watching ‘tangled’.. then got a little stir crazy and hit up blockheads (a little mexican bar/restaurant that sells the BEST DRINKS EVER!) 3oz of vodka for 4.50.. why not?! they were setting up a reservation for 20 so when we offered to move so they could use our tables, they thanked us with 2 shots of tequila. did i mention i love new york?! :) following our drunk mid-day adventure, we got ready and went to see ‘memphis’ with adam pascal. front row has never been so exciting! this show is so great and filled with such great dancing and music! so good. again, i recommend this show for anyone in new york who hasn’t seen it. it’s closing august 5th, so GO NOW!

day four - wednesday, june 27th - last day in new york. :( caroline had to work today, so i decided to see a show. i REALLY REALLY wanted to see ‘harvey’ with big bang theory star jim parsons, so i lined up to get rush tickets, but of course they were sold out of general rush tickets. they did however, have student rush tickets that were half the price of a regular ticket ($140 = $70!), but those were only available ONE HOUR prior to curtain! so, because i was determined to see a show this afternoon before my flight, i went to try to get tickets for ‘book of mormon’. at around 11:35 i was told there was no matinee, so then i walked over to enter the lottery for ‘peter and the starcatcher’. again, no luck there. i booked it back to try to get a student rush ticket for harvey, and was able to get one! luckily, the show was every bit as good as i’d hoped. jim parsons was so FREAKING AMAZING! unfortunately, after the show i had to rush to get my stuff from caroline’s apartment, grab a cab to port authority, and bus it back to newark to catch my flight.

i can’t wait to go back to this city.

tra-la-laa.. update time!

woooo!

there’s been a lot of things to fill you tumblites on lately!

first, let’s begin with I DON’T WORK AT STARBUCKS ANYMOREEEE! it’s actually quite relaxing and refreshing. handed in my two weeks may 1st, and worked my last shift on the 7th. it’s been a great change. now i’m just working full time serving at a restaurant, and i couldn’t be happier!
not only is the money better, but the staff is great! i feel like i should have been here for much longer than i actually have been. yay! finally happy at a job i love!

my friend adelle took some new headshots for me, going to chat about them with my agent sometime next week and see what she thinks about them! hopefully she approves so that’ll buy me some more time to save up money and get professional ones. still don’t know 100% who i’m going to go with .. it’s tough.

taking a trip to NYC to visit my friend caroline (the one who i went to NYC with last october!) at the end of june! SO EXCITED! just have to make sure that i can for sure get the time off so i can book my flight with porter, since they have an amazing deal (50% off!).. ahhh i can’t wait! i love that city.

i finally set up an IMDB page for myself! just waiting for everything to be approved and launched online! it’s kind of exciting.

speaking of exciting.. SAVING HOPE airs in less than 2 weeks! JUNE 7th at 9PM! :D can’t wait to watch myself on the same screen as erica, michael and daniel. EEK!

that’s pretty much it for now i think. that’s all the updates i have! but they’re fun ones!

xo.

well hello, tumblr. i’ve missed you.

so it’s been a while since i’ve updated you all (the 5 people who may or may not be reading my blog) on what i’ve been up to lately, so i thought a nice follow-up blog would be nice.

post-surgery i came back to toronto and started my new job at a restaurant (sorry, no names, just so we keep it a little on the hush)! just hostessing for now, but i’d really like to move up to serving and hopefully will be able to do that come summer time. i like to think i’m pretty much amazing at my job, so it’ll happen. oh yes, it’ll happen.

‘SAVING HOPE’ (the show i filmed in the summer) has been picked up by NBC and will be airing on both CTV and NBC in the summer of 2012. SO EXCITING! i’m super excited to see how it turns out. i’m 100% sure that this show will be a hit. if you love ‘greys anatomy’, you’re gonna love this too! i promise you!

i miss being on stage though - SO MUCH! i have to do something soon or i’m gonna go crazy. absolutely, positively crazy.

i’ll be going back up north at the end of march for my friend’s wedding reception. she got married february 9th in jamaica but is celebrating with friends on the 31st of march. i can’t even begin to describe how excited i am! it’s hard to believe she’s married.. people are growing up and it’s just unavoidable! but i wish them a lifetime of happiness and health. they’re so in love, it’s cute.

so i’ll be going to the black keys concert together with a certain someone. i dunno what exactly is going on in this situation, so i’m not going to say anymore so that i don’t jinx it. :) tra-la-la..

my friend caroline (who i went to new york with back in october 2011) MOVED to new york. it’s unreal to think that she’s living her dream and making her dreams reality by living there. she’s an amazing person, and i couldn’t be happier for her! definitely planning a trip in the late spring/early summer to visit her! :)

that’s about it for now,

xo.

so soon!
