the ramblings and musings of a musical theatre obsessed actor.

laugh. love. sing.

oh, hi again toronto. :(

so i flew back from the big apple last night. such a crazy trip, but it was all so worth it!

lemme start at the beginning..

day one - sunday, june 24th: flew out to NYC at 8:55am, landed around 10ish, and then finally made my way into the city for around 11:15 (cause the bus took forever)! caroline met me at port authority and then we ventured to her apartment, dropped my stuff off and went back down to times square to enter the lottery for ‘newsies’. i was supposed to see ‘harvey’ today, but it was sold out so i wasn’t able to get tickets. we didn’t win the lottery for ‘newsies’ either, so we went down to the brooklyn bridge, canal street, and soho (where i bought my longchamp bag i’ve wanted for a while)! we grabbed some groceries and head onto her rooftop patio to enjoy the view. later that night, there was a fire a block away from her apartment that we decided to go check out. so surreal.

day two - monday, june 25th: day two was a shopping day! bought some super cute clothes at forever 21, then entered the lottery for ‘ghost’! caroline’s thing is to pair up with another couple, and that way if they both win we can get tickets to see the show, and it’s a good thing we did! the couple we teamed up with won twice, so we scored the last pair of tickets to see ‘ghost’ front row! :) words of advice: if you are in new york, GO SEE ‘GHOST’ .. seriously! it’s one of the most unreal shows i’ve seen in a LONG time! the effects, the acting, the VOICES on those actors! oh man. chills still thinking about it. GO SEE THIS SHOW BEFORE IT CLOSES!

day three - tuesday, june 26th: we woke up early this day to get rush tickets to see ‘memphis’, then after walking around a little bit, we grabbed a bottle of wine and packed a lovely picnic lunch to eat on the rooftop. however, the roof was closed because they were doing some work on it. bummer. so we ate inside while watching ‘tangled’.. then got a little stir crazy and hit up blockheads (a little mexican bar/restaurant that sells the BEST DRINKS EVER!) 3oz of vodka for 4.50.. why not?! they were setting up a reservation for 20 so when we offered to move so they could use our tables, they thanked us with 2 shots of tequila. did i mention i love new york?! :) following our drunk mid-day adventure, we got ready and went to see ‘memphis’ with adam pascal. front row has never been so exciting! this show is so great and filled with such great dancing and music! so good. again, i recommend this show for anyone in new york who hasn’t seen it. it’s closing august 5th, so GO NOW!

day four - wednesday, june 27th - last day in new york. :( caroline had to work today, so i decided to see a show. i REALLY REALLY wanted to see ‘harvey’ with big bang theory star jim parsons, so i lined up to get rush tickets, but of course they were sold out of general rush tickets. they did however, have student rush tickets that were half the price of a regular ticket ($140 = $70!), but those were only available ONE HOUR prior to curtain! so, because i was determined to see a show this afternoon before my flight, i went to try to get tickets for ‘book of mormon’. at around 11:35 i was told there was no matinee, so then i walked over to enter the lottery for ‘peter and the starcatcher’. again, no luck there. i booked it back to try to get a student rush ticket for harvey, and was able to get one! luckily, the show was every bit as good as i’d hoped. jim parsons was so FREAKING AMAZING! unfortunately, after the show i had to rush to get my stuff from caroline’s apartment, grab a cab to port authority, and bus it back to newark to catch my flight.

i can’t wait to go back to this city.

xo.
